MAGNETIC ISLAND FISHING CHARTERS
Magnetic Island Fishing Charters is a family-run business offering private inshore and offshore fishing charters, and personal, customisable sightseeing tours.
Based on Magnetic Island, our charters operate in the world heritage Great Barrier Reef.
Dom is your experienced captain for the day, and the vessel, C/Level, is a custom-built six-metre Bonito centre console cabin featuring a Mercury Sea Pro 150-horsepower outboard. The boat has a full walk-around deck and a toilet on board.
C/Level carries all necessary safety equipment, and charters include all rods, reels, eskies, ice, and bait.
When you book with Magnetic Island Fishing Charters, the boat and your guide are yours for the day. Our charters have been created for family or friend groups, and you will never be onboard a mixed charter.
FISHING INSHORE
Inshore tours are run as either a half-day charter of around 4 hours, or an 8 hour full-day charter. We’ll travel through some of the island's most talked about bays and beaches, discovering the inner fringing reefs of Magnetic Island and unintentionally sightseeing the island’s beautiful coastline and scenery as we troll past some spectacular headlands.
Of the island's 23 bays and beaches, 14 are fishable and many offer opportunities to fish shipwrecks, shoals, rocks, reefs, and mangroves. We'll use a combination of bait and trolling, bottom bashing for reef fish including Coral Trout, Tusk Fish, Red Emperor, Trevally, Cods, and a whole bunch of other species, while also chasing pelagic fish including Spotted Mackerels and Tuna.
Our inshore tours can accommodate up to 5 people and you’re welcome to bring your own provisions.
FISHING OFFSHORE
Offshore full-day charters are around 8 hours long and we’ll travel up to 50 nautical miles from Magnetic Island and spend the day discovering more of the outer Great Barrier Reef.
We'll spend the day sport fishing and game fishing. Bottom bashing in offshore shoal grounds for Red Emperor, Nannygai, Coral Trout, Trevallies (amongst plenty of other species), and trolling over the shoal grounds for pelagic fish including Spanish Mackerels, Tuna, and Marlins.
Our offshore charters can accommodate up to 4 people and you’re welcome to bring your own provisions.
SIGHTSEEING TOURS
Sightseeing Tours are for those who don't fancy fishing, they are a no-fuss half-day tour designed to showcase our beautiful island home and are customisable based on places you would like to discover. Depending on the conditions, we'll find some of the island's hidden gems, including Five Beach Bays, Radical Bay, and the islands most famous shipwreck - The SS City of Adelaide.
The waters and mountains surrounding Maggie are home to various wildlife, and we're always looking for Dolphins, Dugongs, Turtles, Rays, Eagles, and other birdlife.
Whale-watching charters run seasonally. The waters surrounding Magnetic Island come alive yearly with the annual humpback whale migration. These majestic animals travel to our warmer waters to feed, mate and give birth before returning south with their calves. Spend a half-day onboard for an unforgettable experience watching these gentle giants play in the ocean.
